Daytona Beach, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University continues to draw-in All-State talented student-athletes for track & field, and it showed once again on Tuesday as Chris Herring was inked to a National Letter of Intent to run for B-CU head coach Garfield Ellenwood.

Ellenwood, striving to make B-CU into a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship contender, continued his national recruiting efforts over the weekend with the signing of one of North Carolina's most up-and-coming stars in the form of Chris Herring.

Herring, another talented young man from Knightdale High School, will join former teammate Ronnie Ash at B-CU. Ash is set to travel to Tallahassee, Fla. on Friday for the NCAA East Regional to be held at Florida State University.

"We are looking forward to Chris [Herring] coming next year," expressed an excited Ellenwood. "He is excited to be running with Ronnie again, and I know we are excited about the combination as well."

Herring is marked with running a 10.42 in the 100m, as well as a 21.28 in the 200m. He can also compete very well in the hurdles and runs on the 4x100 relay team for Knightdale High School. He had originally expressed a lot of interested in attending national-power Louisiana State (LSU), but elected to ultimately sign to come to sunny Daytona Beach, Fla. and wear Maroon and Gold.

"This is another great addition to the talent we have already in place, as well as some others coming in next year," stated Ellenwood. "I'm still excited about the Regionals this weekend, but this excites me just as much. This was big for us."
