Played in 46 games while starting in 45 of those contests as a sophomore for the Maroon and Gold Batted .235 in his sophomore season as a reserve outfielder and designated hitter Collected 24 hits with four homeruns and five doubles at the plate Registered one of the team's best slugging percentages with a .402 mark Had a fielding percentage of .972 for fifth place on the squad in that category; Had 35 putouts in the field and third base. 2007 highlights ... Posted a three-run homerun over nationally-ranked Tennessee (2/18) Went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-run homerun against Western Michigan (3/4) during the Kennell Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. Posted his third all-time conference homerun in the first game of a doubleheader against Delaware State (5/5) on a three-run shot Collected a career-high eight putouts against Maryland Eastern Shore (4/28) FRESHMAN (2006) 2006 season ... Played in 43 games with 35 starts for the Wildcats, mostly at the third base position Posted just a .186 batting average, but contained incredible power numbers for a freshman Secured 22 hits with another 11 runs scored; Knocked in 13 RBI Went long with his power four times in the form of homeruns Collected two stolen bases with hidden speed, but it is speed on the path Picked up 19 putouts with 51 assists at the third base position 2006 highlights ... Posted a season-best two doubles in his first game at Jacksonville (2/10) Hit his first collegiate homerun against Western Michigan (3/3) at the Kennel Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. Made it back-to-back homers with a shot over the right field wall against Seton Hall (3/4) back at home in Jackie Robinson Ballpark Went 1-for-4 with a season-high two RBI at Florida A&M (3/25) in the first conference game of the season Collected a 2-for-3 performance against Stetson (2/14) on Valentine's Day Recorded a season-best three putouts and one assist at Jacksonville (2/12) on a very windy and cold day at the "hot corner" HIGH SCHOOL Gathered two letters under head coach Norm Yelverton at nearby Atlantic High School in Port Orange Played both third base and right field for the Sharks in helping his team finish 2005 with a record of 18-6, and earning Conference championship honors Earned a spot on the Honor Roll with a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average Registered a slugging percentage of .800 during his career Held a batting average of .439 during his senior year while blasting eight home runs and driving in 28 RBI during his senior season (2005) Stole two bases during his senior year Named to the Second Team All-State in the outfield, as well as Second Team All-Central Florida Selected as the Volusia County Player of the Year, as well as being named to the All-County First Team Also lettered for two years in golf for the Sharks PERSONAL Born to the world as Douglas Christopher Brown on Feb. 9, 1987 ... he is the son of Robert and Brenda Brown ... has served over 100 hours of community service over the past three years ... chose to attend Bethune-Cookman because it allowed him a chance to play baseball and get a good degree ... wants to get bigger, stronger and faster while earning more and more playing time at B-CU throughout his playing career ... his brother has been one of the biggest athletic influences in his life because he played baseball until after high school--and that made Chris want to play in college even more. |
