2007 honors ... • All-MEAC First Team

2007 season ... • In his first season as a weekday starter, Gautier collected a 5-2 record on the year • Named to the All-MEAC First Team as a pitcher alongside teammate Francisco Rodriguez • Had a team second-best ERA of 3.26 on the season; Saw action in 17 games with 11 starts on the season • Pitched 66.1 innings on the mound throughout the year; Collected one save on the year • Fourth on the team with 53 strikeouts; Had one complete game shutout against Savannah State in the series finale

2007 highlights ... • Went a complete game with a shutout over Savannah State (3/18); Allowed just six hits and fanned a career-high seven batters in the series finale over the Tigers to take the series • MEAC Pitcher of the Week twice on Mar. 19 and Mar. 26 in back-to-back weeks • Selected to back-to-back weeks on the College Baseball Foundation All-Weekly Award list • Collected his first save against Norfolk State (4/14) with just 0.1 innings out of the bullpen • Had a complete game victory over Florida A&M (3/24) with three strikeouts in seven innings on the hill • Registered his second-ever victory over local power Stetson (4/17) with six strikeouts through six innings against the Hatters • Picked up back-to-back wins in consecutive outings against Jacksonville (5/1) and Florida Atlantic (5/8)

FRESHMAN (2006)

2006 season ... • Went 1-6 on the year as a freshman with some tough losses • Had a 5.40 ERA in 46.2 innings of work during the year • Started in 12 games with 12 appearances on the mound overall • Struck-out 29 batters with a nasty slow-pitch that can fool a lot of batters; Also helped to pick-off a multitude of unsuspecting runners at first base

2006 highlights ... • Worked six innings against UCF (2/7) in his first collegiate start • Picked up his only win of the campaign on Valentine's Day against local opponent Stetson (2/14) with seven innings on the hill; Allowed just two runs while striking out four batters • Fanned five batters at UCF (5/2) in three innings on the hill; Didn't allow a single run and just one hit that game in Orlando • Also saw one inning of action against Tulane in the NCAA Regional (Oxford, Miss.) with one strikeout and zero (0) hits

HIGH SCHOOL

• Played for two years at Fountain Christian Bilingual School in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. • Helped his team in capturing runner-up accolades in the Palomino World Series (2005) with a record of 3-2 under coach Cano Negrõn. • Played both pitcher and in the outfield for head coach Jorge Rivera with a 15-4 record as a senior (2005). • Named to the Honor Society with an excess of a 3.7 GPA as a junior and senior.

Joseph Giovanni Gautier was born on Dec. 31, 1987 in Dorado, Puerto Rico ... he is the son of Joseph Gautier, Sr. and Sylvia Guzmán ... simply known as Gio in and around the athletic department ... planning on earning a degree in Electrical Engineering at Bethune-Cookman University ... wants to earn a conference championship ring and go to the College World Series at Bethune-Cookman ... chose B-CU because of the great baseball program and coaching staff ... says his father is the biggest athletic influence in his life because he was the one who taught him the game of baseball.
