BEFORE BETHUNE-COOKMAN: Attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Wabash Valley College • Played for head coach Jim Lawler at UALR while helping the team to a record of 22-31 last season • While at Wabash Valley, his team finished second in the conference back-to-back years under head coach Rob Fournier • His high school team was named champions of Puerto Rico in 2003 while at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy and High School • Played for head coach Jaime Munoz and Jorge Rivera at PRBA & HS as they earned a two-year record of 48-3 • Named All-Conference first baseman in junior college in both 2005 and 2006

PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 22, 1986 in Caguas, Puerto Rico ... the son of Osvaldo Torres and Rosa Diaz ... received the Discipline Award and made the honor roll several times in high school ... chose to attend B-CU because they gave him a chance to play baseball for them ... serves community service back home by helping kids in baseball camps ... says his mother is the biggest influence in his life because she was the one that kept pushing him to do what he loves best.
