Daytona Beach, Fla. - The sixth annual Bethune-Cookman Alumni Baseball Game has been set for Feb. 16 at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in beautiful Daytona Beach, Fla. Head coach Mervyl Melendez and his staff is anticipating a huge crowd, and a great affair with some of the best athletes to ever play for the maroon and gold of the Wildcats. The B-CU baseball team captured back-to-back Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) regular season and tournament titles last season, and is looking forward to another great year in 2008. What better way to kick-off the season than to invite all former players and fans/friends of the program back to Jackie Robinson Ballpark and enjoy a day of fun in the sun ... before the Wildcats really start to get down to work. "This is an attempt at getting former B-CU baseball players reunited with old friends and teammates, as well as seeing where their program is headed for the future," exclaimed B-CU head coach Mervyl Melendez. The `Cats will start off things at 11 a.m. on Feb. 16 with a Home Run Derby, followed up with the game at 1 p.m. The day will end with a barbecue at the Jackie Robinson Ballpark For more information on this event, please contact Bethune-Cookman assistant baseball coach José Vazquez at (386) 481-2241 in the baseball office.
