While at George Walton Academy, Whatley scored over 1,500 points in his career in just three years on the varsity level ... Tabbed as an All-State and All-Region performer as a junior and senior ... A member of the team that went 26-4 in 2004 while seeing time as a guard/forward for head coach George Perides ... Team was a Final Four participant in the Georgia State Tournament all four years he was in high school ... Selected to the All-County squad, as well as leading his team to a State title in 2002 ... A participant in the Georgia vs. South Carolina All-Star Game ... Made the MVP of that same contest ... His cousin, Enis Whatley, played for the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls of the NBA ... His father, Chris Whatley, was an NFL member as well as an All-Star at the University of Pittsburgh in football ... Chose to attend B-CU because of the coaching staff and the opportunity to play right away ...
