A proven strong recruiting coordinator and basketball savvy assistant coach, Howard White, Jr. is beginning his second season as an assistant coach at Bethune-Cookman University. It didn't take long for White to become accustomed with B-CU, known as a prominent basketball figure in Jacksonville, Fla. after serving for two seasons as an assistant coach with the University of North Florida.

White will be in charge of helping to develop the front court for the Wildcats, as well as handling the normal day-to-day duties associated with the men's basketball office.

During his two-year stint at UNF, White made a significant contribution in many areas, most importantly serving as the Ospreys recruiting coordinator. This was in addition to his on-floor contributions from the sidelines with motivation to the team, and court awareness of seeing what's going on at all times. It was through the efforts of Howard White that UNF landed one of the school's best recruiting classes in history prior to the 2005-06 season, and aided in the Ospreys first official season on the Division I level of intercollegiate athletics after making the transition from Division II.

Before arriving at UNF, White spent six years as an assistant coach at Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ). Those seasons include five years with the men's program. At FCCJ, the Stars posted five winning campaigns, and ended each of the last three years amongst the Top 25 in the national junior college polls by the NJCAA (National Junior College Athletic Association). FCCJ won its conference tournament during the 2002-03 season, as well as the regular season league title in 2003-04 after posting a 24-9 overall record. During the 2003-04 tilt, FCCJ went unbeaten at home and was ranked No. 1 in the state for a portion of the season.

During White's career at FCCJ, which included one season as an assistant coach for the women's team, the Stars were 107-53. In addition to that, White helped 15 FCCJ student-athletes advance to play at four-year institutions around the country, including Brian Helquist (Oregon) and All-America performer Prentice Mobley (Georgia Southern).

But White is accustomed to life on the court as a player also. He played for two years at Wilmot High School in his hometown of Wilmot, Arkansas, serving as team captain and team MVP during his senior year. While playing as a Panther, White led the squad in scoring during his senior season with an average of 18.5 points per game.

Howard White, Jr. is a 2001 graduate of Southern Illinois University having earned a bachelor's degree in Workforce Education. He later earned his master's degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix in 2003.
