Box Score

Dover, Del. (AP) - Frisco Sandidge scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Delaware State, which beat Bethune-Cookman 49-44 Saturday afternoon inside Memorial Hall in frigid Dover, Del.

Delaware State (12-13, 9-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) never trailed en route to winning its second straight. John Holmes finished with 10 points to lead Bethune-Cookman (4-9, 10-17).

The Hornets led by as much as 42-26 at the 4:53 mark when Jerel Chavis connected on a 3-pointer. Bethune-Cookman put together a 16-6 run that cut the lead to 48-42 on a 3-pointer by Joey Woods with 20 seconds left, but got no closer.

Also scoring in double figures for the Hornets was Roy Bright with 14 points. Delaware State outrebounded Bethune-Cookman 27-24 and forced the Wildcats into 16 turnovers.

B-CU mustered up just 11 points in the first half for the lowest scoring output in a half in over five years. They had previously scored just 15 points twice earlier this season against Savannah State and at Morgan State in January.

The 'Cats have now lost six (6) conference games in 2007-08 by a combined total of 19 points. That's an average of just over three points a game ... including two (2) one-point setbacks against Howard and Norfolk State.

Bethune-Cookman head coach Clifford Reed, Jr. will try and right the ship on Monday night when he takes his Wildcat squad into the Hytche Athletic Center in Princess Anne, Md. to battle with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 9 p.m. The game will be broadcast live across the nation through ESPNU on the ESPN family of networks.
