2008-2009 B-CU Team Award Winners AnnouncedThe 2008-2009 B-CU Athletic teams were hosted by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Bethune-Cookman University Athletic Department at team banquets held Monday and Tuesday night in the Wildcat Lounge. Each sports designated award winners and head coaches gave their summaries of the season. Spring sports are still competing with MEAC Championships upcoming in track and field, (this weekend) softball (May 7-10), baseball (May 14-17) and golf competes at the Minority National Championships in Port St. Lucie (May 8-10). MEAC Announces Academic Award Winners For 2008-2009VIRGINIA BEACH, VA., - The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced the 2009 Commissioner's All-Academic Team, recognizing 593 student-athletes from the conference's 12 member institutions who achieved academic success during the 2008-09 academic school year. The team honors student-athletes, including sophomores to seniors, with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. "I congratulate and commend the student-athletes who have achieved academic success by maintaining a 3.0 or better grade point average during the 2008-09 school year," said Commissioner Dennis E. 2009 WILDCAT FOOTBALL SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEDDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman University Athletics Director Lynn W. Thompson announced the 2009 B-CU football schedule today. The 11 game slate features 5 home games in Daytona Beach beginning with the 2009 home opener against two-time defending CIAA conference champions Shaw University on September 5. "After consulting with head football coach Alvin Wyatt, we both felt that we needed another home game and one against a very credible opponent before opening the MEAC schedule the next weekend with the defending MEAC Champs South Carolina State visiting Municipal Stadium," Athletic Director Lynn W. 2009 Preliminary Football Schedule AnnouncedB-CU Athletics Director Lynn W. Thompson announced today a preliminary 2009 football schedule. "For our fans and alumni who are being forced to make tough planning decisions and early travel plans for cost savings in the current economic downturn, we want them to have as much information as possible to make plans for next fall," Thompson said. Thompson also indicated that while the university is in negotiations for a season opener to be announced shortly, the remainder of the schedule is complete. [+]
