Starkville, Miss. - Two Bethune-Cookman University softball players have recently been named as National Fastpitch Coaches Association scholar-athletes for the 2006-07 season. Holly Bussey and Christina Trimble earned the honor for the Wildcats from last year's campaign.

Both players earned a 3.5 grade point average or better, helping them garner All-Academic honors from the NFCA.

Both players are set to graduate in the spring of 2008 as seniors, and should help to serve as team captains for the Wildcats this year in, what is expected to be, a great season for Bethune-Cookman University on the field.

B-CU opens up play on Feb. 8 at the USF Wilson Tournament in Tampa, Fla. Once there, they will play teams from Florida Gulf Coast, USF, Florida and Illinois.
