Virginia Beach, Va. - Bethune-Cookman University freshman catcher Liz Parrish has been selected as this week's Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office in Virginia Beach, Va. Parrish, a 5-3 freshman from nearby South Daytona, Fla., finished the week with a batting average of .571 as she was 4-for-7 at the plate. In a series victory (2-of-3) wins against conference rival North Carolina A&T, Parrish was key behind the plate for the Wildcats who took over first place in the Southern Division. She registered nine putouts and one assist. Player of the Week honors went to Jessica Chrabaszez of Delaware State as the first baseman posted a batting average of .470 this week while collecting a grand slam in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore. She had 45 putouts in the field to help the Lady Hornets to a 5-1 week. Pitcher of the Week honors went to Norfolk State's Ky Brown who pitched four shutout innings and allowed just one hit to earn a game one win in a doubleheader over Maryland Eastern Shore. For the week, Brown had an ERA of 0.70 with five strikeouts in 10 innings.
